  • What can East Coast Dehydrators dry?
    Just about anything that grows in your garden or from your trees. No animal parts..
  • Can you dehydrate already frozen foods?
    Yes we do. Our customer's product is often stored frozen (expensive!) until an end consumer is identified. We don't need to wait for it to thaw before dehydrating it from a frozen composition.
  • How long does the normal dehydrating take?
    It depends on the desired moisture content and product. Even varities of mushrooms, like nice, thick sliced portabellas will take slightly longer than white mushrooms On average, 4-6 hours. But like outdoor grilling at home, it's best done low and slow.
  • How much can East Coast Dehydrators dry in a day?
    If we ran three dry's over a 24 hour period,depending on the product, roughly 38-45,000 wet pounds. We can dry between 200-270k pounds of fruit or veggies a week.
  • Do you handle organic products?
    We are a Pennsyvalnia Certified Organic (PCO) facility. We adhere to all of the safety guidelines that they, the FDA and of course, our customers insist on.
  • Does dehydrating food cause it to lose it's nutrients?
    Studies conducted by the USDA have proven that dehydrating food loses way less (3-5%) of it's nutrients compared to canning or freezing, which fall in the 40-80% range. Also, dehydrating is by far the best method of long-term food storage in regards to nutrient preservation.
